A little bit about what this category will look at. It’ll look at obviously the components of hypnosis. Now know for hypnotists, most of the time people will see me for stress management. They will see me for stress, for smoking is usually a big one, but it could also be around pain management. It could be on a kind of a whole bunch of different areas. I’ve helped people gain more confidence. I’ve helped people deal with relationships in a different way. Sometimes it’s with dealing with past issues, past pain, anger, sadness or even fear.
With hypnosis, I’ve been doing it now since 2002. I’ve been in practice doing that for that time, and I find that it’s a very effective modality that is different than traditional psychotherapy or any other modality.
Now with coaching, coaching is a little bit different from psychotherapy and I’m hoping that you’re going to take a chance to just look at that video or read the document that’s attached on the difference between psychotherapy and coaching. Kind of the crux of it is that coaching, different than psychotherapy. Psychotherapy looks at what is the past and kind of what brought you to now. Whereas coaching is more directed towards the outcome and the future, so it’s kind of like where you are now and creating a roadmap and looking at where you want to go.
The metaphor I like using for the difference between psychotherapy and coaching is like you’re in your car on your destination towards your goal, whatever your goal may be. Maybe that’s for your next million. Maybe that’s for your next relationship. Whatever it may be, and along the way, there’s an obstacle that comes and smashes your windshield. Psychotherapy would be more in terms of the why it is that this object or this obstacle has broken the windshield, whereas in coaching it’s more, let’s replace it, let’s get you back on your goal quickly. It’s more taking you from where you are to where you want to be, so it’s very much more future oriented.
I hope that’s been helpful. Like I said, don’t hesitate to look through the videos within this section to hopefully bring some more clarity with you. So with that, thanks so much for joining me, and I hope you enjoyed spending time on my site and gathering some information that may be useful. Thank you.
Coaching vs Psychotherapy
Hi and welcome to today’s session. I’m Gilles Brideau. I’m a psychotherapist, coach, and hypnotist that lives and works in Sudbury Ontario, Canada.
I thought I’d do a quick video today on the differences between coaching and psychotherapy. I know even for my client service a lot of confusion between the distinction between the two terms and what they really represent.
Top 5 Things Asked to a Hypnotist
Hi guys. Gilles Brideau here with your Tactical Tuesday session.
As a hypnotist, what I was going to cover today is the Top 5 or so things that are asked a hypnotist on a regular basis. The number one thing I get asked is, “Are you going to make me bark like a dog or cluck like a chicken?” Now obviously, what I usually say to people is, “If I had an audience or your family member here, that would probably be entertaining, but no, that’s not the point and purpose of being here.”
How to Choose a Mentor/Coach: Top 6 Human Needs
Hi, and welcome to today’s session. I am Gilles Brideau. I’m a psychotherapist, I’m a coach, and a hypnotherapist that lives in Sudbury, Ontario. Today’s session we’re going to look at the importance of why to get a mentor or a coach. I’m going to look at this from a very unique perspective, using the human needs psychology, the top six human needs.
The first need is the need for certainty. So what my coach provides me in terms of a level of certainty is he always gives me reassurance, not because of what is said, but because he has been successful and has applied the knowledge in real life. This is what I mean. Throughout my research and discovering, since that time, I’ve discovered his abilities online to produce. It’s not just based on theory. It’s not just based on the experience of listening to other people. I know that he’s applied his skills to provide him with a consistent six-figure income. The application of a skill provides me with a level of certain in the fact that I know I can look to this person to guide me in the direction of where I want to go.
